SOT Surf Skills - Sit on Top

Designed for those who appreciate the importance of safety in the surfzone. Learn the easy way to paddle out, catch waves, turn and carve, handle broaching and wipeouts.

Group sizes are kept small to ensure maximum Instructor time per student. 

Course duration: 3 hours

 

What to bring: Sun protection, suitable warm clothing to get wet and swim in, PFD, paddle, SOT, and we recommend a helmet. BYO Drinks, snacks, lunch.

Prerequisites: Basic skills course, Good Fitness & strong swimmer

Surf Skills Course

Designed for the paddler who wants to experience the surf with knowledge of safety and fun. A dynamic and exciting program to get you riding waves in your kayak. Learn essential paddle strokes, bracing and balance techniques, eskimo rescue skills as well as surf hydrology to enable safe paddling in the surfzone.

Group sizes are kept small to ensure maximum Instructor time per student.

Course duration:  2 days (Home study theory booklet provided prior to course start date)

 

What to bring: Sun protection, suitable warm clothing and footwear to get wet and swim in, PFD, whitewater or surf kayak or wave ski with adequate flotation, helmet, paddle, spraydeck. BYO Drinks, snacks, lunch.

Prerequisites: Basic Skills Course, Previous paddling experience. Good fitness and strong swimmers.

Eskimo Rolling

Learn the ultimate self rescue technique - the Eskimo Roll.

 

Participants should be confident in the water and be comfortable upside down in a kayak. 

The eskimo rolling course is a private lesson with a professional instructor.

Course duration: 1.5 hours

 

What to bring: Suitable warm clothing, PFD, paddle, spraydeck  kayak. You might wish to bring a whitewater noseplug.

Prerequisites: Underwater confidence and competent paddle skills.
